Shabbat Shalom Umevorach to everyone!
This Shabbat we will read Parashat “Ki Tavo,” a parasha full of tochacha (rebuke), but also messages of hope and of the choices that are in our hands.
The parasha opens with the mitzvah of bringing the Bikkurim (first fruits offering), in which we thank Hashem for the good land we received, and then it continues with many brachot (blessings) and klalot (curses).
The Torah comes to teach us that when we do not keep the will of Hashem and His mitzvot, we will be punished. And when we do keep His will and mitzvot, we will receive good life and good reward.
Some of these brachot (blessings) and klalot (curses) are directly connected to a very strong pasuk that sharpens an even deeper point.
The pasuk says: “תַּחַת אֲשֶׁר לֹא עָבַדְתָּ אֶת ה’ אֱלֹהיךָ בְּשִׂמְחָה וּבְטוּב לֵבָב מֵרֹב כֹּל” (Because you did not serve Hashem your God with joy and with a good heart, when you had everything in abundance).
From this pasuk we learn that there is importance in the way we fulfill the mitzvot. Hashem expects us to serve Him not only out of obligation or fear, but out of joy and with a good heart.
May we always merit to serve Hashem with love, with a good heart, and with true joy.

השבת נקרא את פרשת “כי תבוא”, פרשה שמלאה בתוכחה, אך גם במסרים של תקווה ושל הבחירה שבידינו.
הפרשה נפתחת במצוות הבאת הביכורים, בה אנו מודים לה’ על הארץ הטובה שקיבלנו, ובהמשך היא עוברת לברכות ולקללות הרבות.
התורה באה ללמד אותנו, שכאשר אנו לא מקיימים את רצון השם ואת מצוותיו, אנחנו נקבל עונש. וכאשר כן נקיים את רצונו ומצוותיו, אנחנו נקבל חיים טובים ושכר טוב.
חלק מהברכות והקללות הללו קשורות באופן ישיר לפסוק חזק במיוחד, שמחדד נקודה נוספת ועמוקה יותר.
הפסוק אומר: “תַּחַת אֲשֶׁר לֹא עָבַדְתָּ אֶת ה’ אֱלֹהיךָ בְּשִׂמְחָה וּבְטוּב לֵבָב מֵרֹב כֹּל” (דברים כח, מז).
מפסוק זה אנו למדים שיש עניין באופן שבו אנו מקיימים את המצוות. ה’ מצפה שנעבוד אותו לא רק מתוך חובה או פחד, אלא מתוך שמחה וטוב לבב.
שנזכה תמיד לעבוד את ה’ מתוך אהבה, מתוך טוב לב, ומתוך שמחה אמיתית.
