Shabbat Shalom u’mevorach!
This Shabbat is a special Shabbat, in which we take out three Sifrei Torah:
a Sefer Torah for the weekly portion, Parashat Miketz,
a Sefer Torah for Rosh Chodesh,
and a Sefer Torah for Chanukah.
Parashat Miketz is one of my favorite parashot. It is a fascinating parasha that truly stops right in the middle of the tension and leaves us alert and waiting. The Haftara is also very special and interesting, and I strongly recommend reading it.
Both Parashat Miketz and Chanukah teach us one central idea:
light can grow out of darkness.
In Parashat Miketz, Yosef is in the lowest place possible.
He was sold by his brothers, something terrible and extremely painful.
He is sitting in the jail for no fault of his own.
He is forgotten by chief cupbearber.
Without power, without status, and without a clear future.
Then, in a single moment, everything turns upside down.
Paro dreams dreams, Yosef is taken out of the jail,
and within a short time he becomes the viceroy of Egypt.
What caused this change?
Yosef himself did not change.
His emunah did not change.
His honesty did not change.
What changed was the time.
Hashem decided that the right moment had arrived.
Yosef teaches us a very important lesson.
Even when a person feels stuck, forgotten, or surrounded by darkness,
Hashem continues to lead the story.
The jail was not a mistake. It was part of the plan.
This message connects directly to Chanukah.
The Greeks were strong and many.
Am Yisrael was few and weak.
The spiritual light in the world was fading.
And yet, a small group of Jews refused to give up their emunah.
They lit a small light, and that light continued to grow.
Chanukah teaches us that there is no need for great strength to defeat darkness.
A little light pushes away a lot of darkness.
One ner is enough to begin.
One mitzvah, one act of emunah, one good decision, can change everything.
There is another deep connection here.
In Parashat Miketz, Yosef clearly says that wisdom and success are not from him, but from Hashem:
“Biladai, Elokim ya’aneh et shalom Paro.”
And in Chanukah we also say that the victory was not because of strength or numbers,
but because Hashem was with us.
Parashat Miketz and Chanukah remind us to trust the timing of Hashem.
Sometimes the yeshuah comes slowly,
and sometimes suddenly,
but it always comes at the right time.
May we all merit to continue lighting light, even when life feels dark,
to trust that Hashem is leading us,
and to add light to our homes, our community, and our lives.
Shabbat Shalom and Chag Chanukah Sameach

שבת שלום ומבורך לכולם
השבת היא שבת מיוחדת, שבה נוציא שלושה ספרי תורה:
ספר תורה לפרשת השבוע – פרשת מקץ,
ספר תורה לראש חודש,
וספר תורה לחנוכה.
פרשת מקץ היא אחת הפרשות האהובות עליי במיוחד. זו פרשה מרתקת, שממש עוצרת באמצע המתח, ומשאירה אותנו דרוכים. גם ההפטרה מיוחדת ומעניינת מאוד, ואני ממליץ בחום לקרוא אותה.
גם פרשת מקץ וגם חג החנוכה מלמדים אותנו רעיון מרכזי אחד:
האור יכול לצמוח מתוך החושך.
בפרשת מקץ יוסף נמצא במקום הנמוך ביותר.
הוא נמכר על ידי אחיו – דבר נורא וקשה מאוד.
הוא יושב בבית הסוהר על לא עוול בכפו.
נשכח על ידי שר המשקים.
בלי כוח, בלי מעמד ובלי עתיד ברור.
ואז, ברגע אחד, הכול מתהפך.
פרעה חולם חלומות, יוסף מוצא מבית הסוהר,
ובתוך זמן קצר הוא הופך למשנה למלך מצרים.
מה גרם לשינוי הזה?
יוסף עצמו לא השתנה.
האמונה שלו לא השתנתה.
היושר שלו לא השתנה.
מה שהשתנה הוא הזמן.
הקב״ה קבע שהגיע הרגע הנכון.
יוסף מלמד אותנו לקח חשוב מאוד.
גם כאשר אדם מרגיש תקוע, נשכח או מוקף בחושך,
הקב״ה ממשיך להוביל את הסיפור.
בית הסוהר לא היה טעות. הוא היה חלק מהתוכנית.
המסר הזה מתחבר ישירות לחנוכה.
היוונים היו חזקים ורבים.
עם ישראל היה מועט וחלש.
האור הרוחני בעולם הלך ודעך.
ובכל זאת, קבוצה קטנה של יהודים סירבה לוותר על האמונה.
הם הדליקו אור קטן, והאור הזה הלך וגדל.
חנוכה מלמד אותנו שאין צורך בכוח גדול כדי לנצח את החושך.
מעט מן האור דוחה הרבה מן החושך.
נר אחד מספיק כדי להתחיל.
מצווה אחת, מעשה אחד של אמונה, החלטה טובה אחת – יכולים לשנות הכול.
יש כאן חיבור נוסף ועמוק.
בפרשת מקץ יוסף אומר במפורש שהחכמה וההצלחה אינן ממנו, אלא מאת ה’:
“בלעדי, אלוהים יענה את שלום פרעה.”
וגם בחנוכה אנו אומרים שהניצחון לא היה בזכות כוח או מספרים,
אלא משום שה’ היה איתנו.
פרשת מקץ וחנוכה מזכירות לנו לבטוח בתזמון של ה’.
לפעמים הישועה מגיעה לאט,
ולפעמים בפתאומיות,
אבל היא תמיד מגיעה בזמן הנכון.
שנזכה כולנו להמשיך ולהדליק אור, גם כאשר החיים מרגישים חשוכים,
לבטוח שה’ מוביל אותנו,
ולהוסיף אור בבתים שלנו, בקהילה שלנו ובחיים שלנו.
